Sir Vijay Singh's article "Motivation for getting out" in the Fiji Times is terribly depressing. It isn't so much that he sees the value of education for Fiji's Indian community lying mainly in its ability to secure immigration rights in First World countries as it is the broader background assumption, taken entirely for granted, that Indians have no future in Fiji.
