A brief run-down to date:

  • 7:30 AM: I went to the gym to do my regular exercises. I'm still getting in the swing of things, but I think I'll be able to resume my full pre-Christmas schedule by next week. Missed choreo_m due to circumstances beyond our control; this Thursday?

  • 10:00 AM: Instead of going to my historiography class, I had a crisis and went to chat with Dr. MacLaine. Long and short of it is that I could do with counselling and talking with friends/colleagues to try to cope with this new vastly complex open-ended life of mine.

  • 10:30 AM: I ran over to student services and set up the necessary appointments.

  • 11:00 AM: I met with Dr. Kurial to get the necessary information to include him as a reference on my c.v. In the process, I noticed a library book on Czechoslovakia in the 1920's that I'd thought I'd lost; it turned out that it ended up in his mailbox because I lent it to him. Eh bien.

  • 11:30 AM: I met with Dr. Furlong briefly to thank her for introducing me to the idea of graduate studies at Memorial. I hope I get to go to the upcoming Undergraduate English Conference there, so I can tour it and meet with some of the professors.

  • 12:00 noon: I went to the Charlottetown Mall, to pick up my suit from Moore's and to buy some liquor for late tonight. (A South African white wine, bought on sale, along with a flavoured vodka drink. I wonder: Am I becoming a drunk? Likely not.)

  • Afternoon: Not much of long-term accomplishment, apart from readings and naps. (Only four hours of sleep last night.) Talked to Lea and Jen.

  • 4:30 PM: Went to my HIST 102 seminar. As expected, quite easy.

Interesting note: This coming September 11th will be the 30th anniversary of Pinochet's coup in Chile. I wonder if there will be any riots there?

A final note: The French-language coffeehouse has been rescheduled for Sunday evening's at 6 pm, place as yet undecided. If anyone local's interested, come on!
