[ACADEMIC] Fan Fiction
Mar. 16th, 2003 03:26 pmThe research into fan fiction continues apace. It's quite an interesting phenomenon, actually--people writing back, people filling in the gaps in their favourite shows. I've not written any, but I do remember, now, last year when I was still interested in Enterprise, reading some stories at Fanfiction.net. They were much more interesting--still are--than the actual episodes, though I couldn't understand at all the stories hosted there that involved explicit sexual encounters between, well, everyone. Looking at FanFiction.net, there's some interesting stories--Jenn mentioned the category at Fanfiction.net devoted to stories based on the Bible, which looks particularly interesting.
I can be assured, though, that there won't be any explicit stories hosted on this website involving Jesus, if only because the site had purged all NC-17 stories from its database a while back. (This is interesting, given that Tori Amos among others has had sexual fantasies about Jesus--I read an interview with her in Rolling Stone where she cited Robert Plant and Jesus as her two major subjects of masturbation fantasies. She even wrote a song, "Mrs. Jesus", that seems to relate to this.
(Ah, sweet sweet blasphemy.)
Anyway. Plenty of interesting articles I've found, some cool interview subjects--it'll be a good paper, I think. Fun!
