A highlight of my job at the library is receiving public appreciation for the job that you do. Sunday, I was lucky enough to get some appreciation when an Iranian professor from Shiraz University teaching at Shiraz University asked to take a picture of me, next to himself and his children. His children often went up to the children's library to use the CD-ROM games; he is returning this week to Shiraz, via Montréal, Vienna, and Teheran, and I think he wanted souvenirs. Shiraz--a city of about one million people--has a long-standing reputation as a trading city; Shirazi traders were responsible for the creation of Zanzibar, for instance, and they played an important role in the Indian Ocean regional economy. He was a nice gentleman; I wish him and his family (wife, two children) a safe trip back.

(Oh, and my picture is here. Hopefully I'm not too hideous.)

Immediately afterwards, I got together with Tara, Jeremy, Joni, nire_nagaf, teridian, taem, and choreographer_m to rehearse The Importance of Being Earnest at the Argyle Shore community centre. The opening was fun: the zip-zop-zap (I think) theatre game was entertaining, as were the in-character taem and I ab-libbed as the manservants to Algy and Jack, which was fun although he'll be in England and I'm onyl stage manager. This looks to definitely be a learning experience.

And then, today was Victoria Day. Nothing happened until 6:30, when I saw The Matrix Reloaded with teridian and a work friend of his, Rob. Notes are forthcoming.

Listening to Sigur Rós right now. I quite like them; nice background.
