New Year's Day here in Toronto was ridiculously warm, with peak temperature of more tha 12 degrees. Wandering around my neighbourhood yesterday evening, I certainly saw and experienced this firsthand: our precipitation was all liquid.

I've a post up at History and Futility expanding on the idea of the singularity as I see it. Massive global improvements in health and education and governance have created a world where, without fundamental changes, we're seeing the sorts of massive improvements in intelligence worldwide that will make a world of minor miracles more possible.

Go, read.

If there was an overarching theme to my posts this weekend, it's that the situation of the world has improved sharply and is continuing to improve sharply, that the break from the nasty wasteful traditional regime in matters biological and sociological is extreme and is continuing apace, and that the rapid diffusion of innovations and enabling of human capabilities is making a world where minor miracles will be commonplace but our underlying humanity will remain the same.

My question to you in today's [FORUM] post: do you think that I'm writing something sensible?
