I'm very glad that
talktooloose and B took me to see the locally acclaimed Talk is Free Theatre/Birdland Theatre performance of the Sondheim/Weidman musical Assassins. It's my first Sondheim I watched to completion--I did not particularly like the gray film version of Sweeney Todd, even with the characteristic highly watchable insanities of Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter--and I'm glad that this particular performance of this, narratively prickly but well-acted and -staged and hummable, musical was my first Sondheim. (Yes, I need to see more musicals; I must live up to some stereotypes, I suppose.) Someone was kind enough to upload the group's performance of the introductory song "Everybody’s Got the Right" to YouTube.
And you?
And you?
