On the afternoon of the 14th of October, 2012, I joined some friends on a driving tour of Dufferin County, to the northwest of the Greater Toronto Area, to see the colours.

We also passed through the county seat, the Town of Orangeville, driving along the centre's main artery of Broadway.

One noteworthy element of the Dufferin County countryside we all noticed was the large number of fields of corn left apparently unharvested. Were these fields of corn intended for animal feed, or was something else--government subsidies not to harvest crops, say, or something wrong with the harvest like an infectious disease--to blame?
