The weekend's up, and the questions submitted.

In reply to Facebook's Jennifer, my favourite Lady Gaga video is "Telephone," [livejournal.com profile] lemurbuoy's question wondering where I see myself as being in five years can be most simply expressed as "being on Earth" (Mars is low on everything and Earth-like worlds are much too far away), and, in reply to Andrew, the sale of hot dogs in packages of ten and of hot dog bunds in packages of eight is a clear attempt by manufacturers of these foodstuffs to maximize their sales.

Over at Facebook, Ed submitted an interesting question/observation.

You seem to have an awesome sense of the Creation. Do you have any sense of a Creator I don't mean in the traditional Judaeo-Christian sense, I'm talking more about an intelligence behind the whole shebang who (or which) is moving everything toward a specific goal, of say, eventual inter-galactic communication.

I quite like Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, that French Jesuit theologian who famously suggested--described succinctly here from a secular transhumanist perspective by Eric Steinhart, and here at Wired--that there's a gradual coalescence of Earth and its surroundings into a cohesive noosphere, a realm and stage of existence defined by the creation of a virtual nervous system uniting life and intelligence with its surroundings. I don't believe in it--well, not necessarily, or not automatically--but it inspires me, not uncritically I hope.
