Today was a slow day, dominated by my desire to finish my last undergraduate term paper--that for Drs. Murray and Magrath, for English 493, on fan fiction--and being constantly stymied. I began with eight pages and a dozen sources at 1 pm; I ended with ten pages and fewer sources just before midnight. I just couldn't write the thing. I think I did a decent enough job on it, at least, and yes, Judith, your copy will be in the mail.
What did I do in between? I checked the news; I checked ISN's webmail interface; I played Star Kingdoms.
At five o'clock, I logged onto gay.com's chat rooms for the first time. After being pursued by requests to communicate my penis size and favoured sexual positions, I did meet a pleasant enough guy, a fourth-year undergrad student at Queen's who has a combined major in Math and Music. He's quite a nice guy, and he's offered to show me around the place.
At eight o'clock, I walked over to the local Indigo bookstore and bought four books with a total value of 70 dollars: the Rough Guide to Canada, The MacMillan Atlas of the Future ("Discover what lies in store for our world in the 21st century and beyond), Terry Pratchett's Interesting Things and the book he and Neil Gaiman co-authored, Good Omens.
And then, a long painful conclusion to the day, terminating with my arrival home at a quarter after midnight. An increasingly large number of Island cabbies, incidentally, are of non-Islander background, whether Lebanese, ex-Yugoslav, or Indian. A study of chain migration on the Island would be interesting.
