I'm in the Kingston Frontenac Public Library right now. The library isn't all that different, at least organizationally; it does have a nice, bright, modern design that doesn't have the looming-darkness field that can sometimes possess the Confederation Centre, never mind that they put their biographies in a separate area and have DVDs for loan. Still, there are common features: They use the Dewey Decimal System, they sort their large-print books separate from the rest of their collection, there is labour unrest, there is mold and dust in the basement, there are public-access computers free of charge to the public. It feels nicely like home.

Not much has happened. I did buy Marq de Villiers excellent travelogue Down the Volga, his experiences cruising down that Russian river in 1991; he also wrote the excellent White Tribe Dreaming about Afrikaner and South African history. I bought it at the excellent Wayfarer Books store in place of the Durant, which turned out to be part of a complete set of the Durants' histories. Chatting with the man was nice.

Just having plenty of fun generally before I turn back to Macvey's Where Will We Go When the Sun Dies?. I'm going to have to get a library card when I move to Kingston; it's just nice.
