A Kingston Update
Sep. 19th, 2003 01:04 amMonday, I went to a Korean restaurant on Princess Street, the main street and commercial artery of Kingston, for lunch. I ordered bulgogi beef, with side dishes. (I don't like kimchi, in case anyone was wondering.) As a matter of course, I ordered a fork and knife along with the pair of disposable wooden chopsticks, since I've never been able to use chopsticks without coaching. For a lark, I tried to use them, and to my surprise I was able to use them quite capably. (Capably enough, anyway.)
This is one instance of a more general theme that I've noticed since I've gotten to Kingston and Queen's. Perhaps I'm overexaggerating my competence, but everything I do seems to be going smoothly, with relatively few problems. I'm socializing, for instance, with little to none of the fears that plagued me back on Prince Edward Island; I'm managing my finances, and my assorted errands, capably; I'm certainly enjoying my schoolwork. I'm doing well, quite well.
(I'd like to take the time to thank an Antipodean friend for giving me these links. They'll come in handy, I'm sure.)
