[NON-BLOG] A General Roundup
Apr. 17th, 2004 02:52 amI'm rather nicely gratified by the response that my previous post has received from the wider blogosphere. The recent lengthening of my blogroll and the growth of my livejournal friends' list can be traced to that. I'll be working on a reply to some of the critiques of my posts--particularly Razib's two posts on GNXP, Russell Arben Fox's reply on Wäldchen vom Philosophenweg, and Alex Jacobson's response--along with a further elaboration when I have time.
You see, right now I don't have time. The Sterne paper has gone hideously over-budget in terms of time, and I'm beginning to get worried about my other papers. Not too worried, though--the medieval devotional drama paper will be a killer. On the plus side, though, I've found out that I've received a three thousand dollar student loan from the PEI provincial government, which means that I can shift money to pay off my VISA debt and hopefully have some starter funds for Toronto.
The last afternoon and early evening was interesting, as my fellow students in dorm--those who are in the Bachelor of Education program, at least--prepared for their formal. It was entertaining to sit and watch as they prepared to hide flasks of liquor and get dressed. An episode of Maury Povich's talk show where the studio audience was challenged to discover whether or not people of female appearance were actual women or transsexuals/transvestites. I'm not sure what this means, but the women in the room seemed fairly depressed that many of the most attractive people were, in fact, biologically male.
One more note: Apparently lime and lemon flavoured vodka goes quite well with strawberries, the strawberries making the vodka taste all the sweeter.
