[NON-BLOG] What's Up
Apr. 19th, 2004 09:15 pmAfter meeting with the respirologist this afternoon, it turns out that I probably don't have sarcoidosis after all--if I did, then I wouldn't be coughing as much as I am, and improvement like what I've experienced. The preliminary diagnosis is that my cough and whatever's happening to my lungs are unrelated phenomena. The respirologist is reluctant to treat me since I appear to be getting better, and she just wants to test my breathing tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock and then wait for the results of my CAT scan to come in before doing anything.
I'm actually a bit disappointed. Sarcoidosis seemed like a rare enough disease, and I was looking forward to getting somewhat more buff and thinner on the corticosteroids normally prescribed to treat the disease. This is particularly the case since I've apparently gained 10-15 pounds since the beginning of grad school.
(Note to self: Go regularly to the pool in spring semester. It's only a couple of minutes walk away from the grad residence.)
In other news, I've gotten an extension on my paper on education in the Tudor state, I think until I get feedback back on my presentation. Which is nice, since it'll hopefully let me address my other paper in more detail. I can hope.
Have I mentioned that I'll be moving in a week? I was down on the area of Main Campus today, dropping off still more books at my office, picking up some Tudor-related titles from Stauffer, and dropping off some magazines and another copy of my Sterne paper at the English Office.
One more thing: An interesting article from UPI on how population aging and imminent shrinkage in Japan isn't destroying the country's economy.
