I was watching a French-language station on cable late at night, before my first day at UPEI, and wondering incoherently why they were covering a car crash in Paris. My mother told me that Diana was dead when I woke up in the morning.

I was at home, checking my E-mail when I came across a message from a New Yorker mentioning the first collision. "Who needs terrorists when you have clumsy pilots?" he wrote.
