I went to the gym this morning. I have a set routine. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I spend 30 minutes biking or walking walking by a dozen different exercises for another hour (3 sets of 12 each); on Tuesday and Thursday, I bike for 45 minutes and do some cardiovascular exercises (again, 3 sets of 12). I've not noticed any weight loss, alas--my weight still hovers just below 180 pounds and my BMI index is just above 25. Nonetheless, I do feel healthier and stronger, and apparently in better shape than three-fifths of the Canadian population (and also 70% of the US Army).

I've always had a conflictual relationship with my body. This is changing, since I'd still like to lose 20 pounds and approach my ectomorphic ideal, but I'm not so very bothered by this. In the gym, I do compare my body to others', but only as ideals to be achieved, without any self-directed rancour.
