[BRIEF NOTE] CFTAG Report
May. 29th, 2005 08:41 pmIt's not very often that I find myself outnumbered two-to-one by medievalists-in-training named Andrew. That's what happened at today's session of the Counterfactual Threats Analysis Group, though, as
schizmatic and Andrew both appeared at the Yonge-Wellesley Starbucks.
A very fun afternoon and early evening was had, there and at the Living Well restaurant further north on Yonge. Many topics were discussed, including the merits of the fiction of Greg Bear and Frederik Pohl, the benefits of photosynthesis for human beings, an introduction (for
schizmatic) to Karla Homolka, the many unnecessary flaws in Revenge of the Sith and the Matrix trilogy, worrying evolutions in American domestic politics and religion, Atlantic Canadian regionalism, the potential for 18th centruy Paraguay to be run by Jesuits trained in the martial arts via Peking fighting against Brazilian cowboy slavers, the complications that a Louisiana populated by radical republican French would pose for the Confederacy, and the various joys of academia.
Anyone in the GTA who's intererested in attending a CFTAG meeting is more than welcome, of course.
