I met up with M., saved by the luck of the current federal government from having to participate in a national election, up at the Starbucks at Yonge and Wellesley at 1 o'clock this afternoon. Fun was had discussing sundry subjects.

  • The Conservative Party of Canada now, the Confederate States of America and Nazi Germany back when, share equally incompetent leaderships.

  • Events in Venezuela definitely deserve to be tracked, although that country has fallen further faster from points of relative wealth than most of its neighbours with similar histories.

  • Jack Chick is gruesomely amusing, as are those evangelical Christians who dismiss the very idea of legitimate disagreements with their religion of choice.

  • John Le Carré is a very good author, Alistair MacLean not so much.

  • A coalition government comprising the Bloc Québécois, a strengthened NDP, and a Green Party would be very cool.

More was discussed, of course, but it has slipped from my mind for the time being.

UPDATE (7:13 PM) : One more item added.
