[LINK] The Polarization of the Globe
Nov. 18th, 2005 10:54 amOver at Newsweek, David Rothkopf "Pain in the Middle" examines the phenomenon of the immiseration of the masses in the globalized economy even as minorities do well. This decouplement of growth worldwide from general improvements in living standards is just one more data point in favour of a globalized polity to help govern this economy. Capitalism, like any economic system, isn't so much immoral as amoral; capitalism doesn't care if economic growth leads to dangerous polarization. The economy, like all things, needs to be managed competently. It isn't right now.
