I want Platinum Pohl, a collection of Frederik Pohl's short stories, badly. I like the fact that he can write, and I like the wit and intelligence that girds his particular writerly style. One thing that I like about him is his use, in at least one story included in that collection, of the proto-Eurabia, that of a Britain repopulated by Irish immigrants. The "United Irish Republics of Great Britain" are an amusing conceit only, infinitely far from realization (too many Britons, too few Irish, not that big a gap between British and Irish TFRs), but worthy for all that because of the conceit's continued relevance.
