[BRIEF NOTE] The Day The Clown Cried
Dec. 9th, 2005 05:14 pmJerry Lewis' 1972 film The Day The Crown Cried has long been renowned as the epitome of Holocaust bad taste, describing a German clown's imprisonment in Nazi Germany's concentration camp system and the joy that he brings to some frightened Jewish children before their murder in the gas chambers. Perhaps fortunately, the film was never released. owing to multiple lawsuits and concerns over its suitability. I've always been curious to see something of it, and last night I found the movie's script. I read it. It wasn't quite as bad as I feared, but slapstick and Zyklon-B just don't mix at all.
