rfmcdonaldWhy is it that so many of my favourite science fiction authors from the 1980s and first half of the 1990s--Greg Bear, David Brin, William Gibson, Bruce Sterling, Paul J. McAulay--have switched from writing science fiction to writing stories set in the contemporary world deeply steeped in a globalized and online world?
