[BRIEF NOTE] A Relief from Culinary Authenticity

I just bought lunch at a Manchu WOK franchise, a noodle plate with sweet and sour pork and mixed vegetables. Yes, I certainly know that Canadian Chinese cuisine bears only a passing resemblance to Chinese cuisine as such; yes, I certainly have had better Chinese food. It's just that there's something about mall fast food fair Chinese food that's comforting, the lack of pretense, the honesty of its simple commercial presentation.
