Edward Hugh reports at A Fistful of Euros that the Italian economy didn't grow at all, separating Italy not only from relatively dynamic First World countries like the United States and Spain, and from the increasingly prosperous new member-states of the EU in central Europe, but from relatively slow-growth European neighbours like France and Germany. As commenters note, Italy is still a wealthy country. It also goes without saying that if Italy continues on this growth path, either sooner or later Italian weight will start to fall.
