pompe reports that the attack on seal hunt observers last week, described here at the Environmental News Service, has managed to get into the Swedish press, as evidenced by this Aftonbladet article. Apparently, after a group of international observers including a Member of the European Parliament was attacked by angry mobs, the European Parliament is being brought into play by the Greens, with talk of a ban on the import of seal products into the European Union. This, mind, on top of the unofficial but apparently popular ongoing boycott of Atlantic Canadian seafood.

It's over. Perservering in preserving an element of traditional culture is one thing; being self-destructive is another. I think we've switched categories in this past month.
