  • I was talking to Jen today in the English Lounge when she gave me the good idea of including some non-English Literature papers in my portfolio, to demonstrate my uniqueness and my versatility--I'm thinking perhaps a short story, and an Anthropology or History paper (either my third-year research paper on the sweat lodge and its assimilation into Christian mores or my HIST 101 paper on American privateering in Nova Scotia) as part of a half-dozen papers.

  • I ran into choreo_m in Main, outside the Anthropology department. (I was trying to set up an appointment with Dr. Dasgupta for tomorrow, to see if he could write a letter of recommendation for me.) It was quite cool chatting to her--I'm looking forward to Tuesday evening.

  • I've gone to the bookstore, where I bought four titles:
For HIST 102, J.M. Bumsted's The Peoples of Canada: A Post-Confederation History. (The tutorial handbook will only come out in the middle of next week; the tutorial itself won't be until next week either, so that's cool.)
For ENG 493 (literature and society, special studies) Creating Your Career Portfolio and Great Jobs for English Majors.
For myself, a photocopied version of W.J. Eccles' France in America.

All just over a hundred dollars Canadian. Not too bad.

  • I paid my tuition bill--I'd a credit from last semester, so just over 300 dollars. Which is cool.

  • Now I'm downloading the PDF versions of the application forms for grad school, after trying to avoid the moment for too long, and E-mailing them home. A pity that the Main computer lounge's isn't open.
