I'd high expectation of Little Miss Sunshine even before I went into Alliance Atlantis' Cumberland 4 theatres in Toronto's tony Yorkville district this afternoon. I'm pleased to say that it lived up entirely to these expectations, even if you ignore the potential of this film's child beauty queen connections in a month preoccupied, again, by the murder of JonBenét Ramsay. The actors all work quite nicely in their role (Greg Kinnear's aspirant and irritating self-help book writer, Steve Carell's gay suicidal Proust scholar, Toni Collette's stressed mother) and the plot managed to provoke me to actual, sympathetic, laughter. Go, watch.
