Canada's Remembrance Day is, like the Remembrance Days and Armistice Days of other First World War combatants, an annual commemoration of the lives lost in war. In Canada, a moment of silence is held nation-wide in "11 November at 11:00 AM, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month."

Today, [livejournal.com profile] lifein2x3 has a link to a scanned image of the front page of a newspaper from the original Armistice Day in 1918, while [livejournal.com profile] robertprior has more on the Canadian holiday, including photos from last year's commemoration.
