One-Year Anniversary Note
Feb. 5th, 2003 09:59 pmAs I write, it's just under two hours before the one-year anniversary of the moment when I realized that I was bi. (Thanks, Tom!)
It's been an interesting year--strained and tiring in places, but on the whole quite fun. I just finished watching the second-season Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "Lie to Me", and the final dialogue really spoke to me:
It hasn't been simple, not by a long shot, and there's still a lot of things I'd like to do and have to do. Still, it's been fun, and I'm quite grateful for that for all my complaints.
It's been an interesting year--strained and tiring in places, but on the whole quite fun. I just finished watching the second-season Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "Lie to Me", and the final dialogue really spoke to me:
Buffy: Nothing's ever simple anymore. I'm constantly trying to work it out. Who to love or hate. Who to trust. It's just, like, the more I know, the more confused I get.
Giles: I believe that's called growing up.
Buffy: I'd like to stop then, okay?
Giles: I know the feeling.
Buffy: Does it ever get easy?
[...]
Giles: You mean life?
Buffy: Yeah. Does it get easy?
Giles: What do you want me to say?
Buffy: (looks up at him) Lie to me.
Giles: (considers a moment) Yes, it's terribly simple.
It hasn't been simple, not by a long shot, and there's still a lot of things I'd like to do and have to do. Still, it's been fun, and I'm quite grateful for that for all my complaints.
