While walking up Lansdowne Avenue north of Bloor with Andrew on Friday, I saw this statue of the Virgin Mary--part of a larger display of religious icons, actually--outside of a house in this heavily Portuguese-Canadian district.
I have a bit of an iconoclastic heritage; despite my Roman Catholic father, I was raised in the post-Methodist/Presbyterian United Church of Canada and have little experience personally with this sort of religious display. It's interesting, like the Italian-Canadian Easter procession in Little Italy..
