Everything is local. That's the point I tried to make yesterday, when I blogged about the ongoing willingness of the Prince Edward Island government to subsidize a lobster fishery that's going to end in tears and, perhaps, herds of jellyfish. There are certainly any number of massive, global environmental catastrophes, like the worldwide devastation of fish stocks in particular and marine ecologies, or climate change, or whatever you can think of. Still, everything begins with something local.

That's my motivation for the question I'm asking you all in my [FORUM] post for the day: What's your local environmental catastrophe? It can be taking place in your current or past place of residence, or even in your place of origin. Is it really bad? Is anything being done to fix it?

Discuss.
