Looking north over the plaza of the Bank of Canada headquarters, past the intersection of Bank and Wellington, the Gothic-revivalist Confederation Building is visible. The edifice houses a mixture of civil servants, MPs, and ministers.

These final locks of the Rideau Canal punctuate this artificial waterway as it finishes its controlled descent from Lake Ontario at Kingston to the Ottawa River, Québec being visible in the distance.

Which of these three images do you prefer? I've a leaning towards the first, myself.

The National Press Building located across the street from Parliament Hill at 150 Wellington Street has since 1967 provided a convenient base for media workers covering affairs on Parliament Hill.

Walking north early Saturday morning up Bank Street I saw some interesting sights.

At least some of Ottawa-area transit agency OC Transpo's many routes run early in the morning, like #1 going to the South Keys bus station.

The side of this building on the northwest corner of Bank and MacLaren is scenically weathered, paint coming off in patches.

The gleaming of the early morning sun against the apartment building caught me.

I like this cheerful mural, though I wonder where the streetcars of Ottawa went.

Real estate located so close to the downtown core of Ottawa surely can't stay vacant for long.

From the southeast corner of Bank and Queen, Parliament Hill--specifically, the Confederation Building--beckons.

I had no idea before I came here that the National Capital Region had a Bixi bike-sharing service of its very own, and yet, as clearly visible in this photo I took of of a Bixi station on Bank Street, it does.
