I'm half-curious but mostly concerned about the latest change scheduled to occur with Facebook's news feed, described by the Associated Press, via CBC as being a big change, whatever it is, since Facebook apparently hasn't provided any details about what this change will involve.

Amid chatter of "Facebook fatigue," real or imagined, the world's biggest social networking company is getting ready to unveil a new version of News Feed, the flow of status updates, photos and advertisements its users see on the site.

Facebook Inc. is hosting an event at its Menlo Park, Calif., headquarters at 10 a.m. PT on Thursday to show off "a new look for News Feed."

The company offered no other details on what the changes will be in an invitation sent to journalists and bloggers. It will be Facebook's second staged event at its headquarters since the company's May initial public offering. The company unveiled a search feature at the first one in January.

If past site changes are any indication, the News Feed tweaks may take some getting used to and will likely lead to user grumbles.

I was alerted by a post at Crasstalk to the existence of the ZSL London Zoo's online Cat Map. You can put your cats on maps! (I did Shakespeare.) The purpose of it was described by Londonist's Rachel Holdsworth.

To while away the time until ZSL London Zoo’s new Tiger Territory opens (about three weeks), they’re asking Londoners to add their cats to a Cat Map.

The map mimics techniques used by conservationists recording the numbers and locations of animals in the wild. Upload a photo of your feline, add its age, gender and a description (favourite treat? Favourite place to nap? Your favourite item of clothing that it’s shredded?) plus your postcode and help create what the Zoo hopes will be a comprehensive survey of the capital’s mogs. They’ve already added profiles for Jae Jae and Melati, two highly endangered Sumatran tigers, and now they want the little cats too.

Olivia Chow is only considering running for mayor. If she did run, her campaign would fulfill some people's dreams; Chow is consistently popular and runs well against other potential and likely candidates in polls.

Trinity-Spadina MP Olivia Chow told CBC that she's mulling a run at the Toronto mayor's chair.

Chow's name came up repeatedly among media and City Hall watchers when it appeared Mayor Rob Ford would lose his job earlier this year. A Superior Court judge ruled that Ford had contravened the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act and ordered him from office, but a Divisional Court overturned the decision.

Speaking Wednesday on CBC TV's George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight ahead of the release of a biopic on her late husband, former NDP Leader Jack Layton, Chow said she loves Toronto but hasn't made any final decision.

"I'm listening to people's advice," she said. "Jack wanted to be mayor. Maybe I want to be a mayor, too, but maybe not. Perhaps I won't be able to do it. I am considering it."

Layton was elected to council in 1982 and had a failed mayoral bid in 1991. Chow's stepson Mike Layton is a sitting councillor.

Chow, the NDP's current Transport critic, has a long history as a Toronto councillor herself. She was the first Asian woman elected to Metropolitan Toronto Council, in 1991, and she was re-elected five times before winning a federal seat in 2006.

She was chair of the community services committee and vice-chair of the Toronto Transit Commission.
