I'm not a Lou Reed fan. I like his work with the Velvet Underground, but his solo work? I find his voice annoying when it isn't artless, and his post-punk, or proto-punk, or whatever musical idiom he writes in is rather less attractive than what his wife Laurie Anderson writes in the same idiom. He gets me, in a bad way.

Make no mistake, though: I will always defend his "Perfect Day".

I like this song, its slow pace and Lou Reed's spoken-sung delivery of lyrics which are superficially happy but contain far darker notes. See below:

Just a perfect day,
Problems all left alone,
Weekenders on our own.
It's such fun.
Just a perfect day,
You made me forget myself.
I thought I was someone else,
Someone good.

Oh it's such a perfect day,
I'm glad I spent it with you.
Oh such a perfect day,
You just keep me hanging on,
You just keep me hanging on.

And do we want to know what is going on to get him to promise that his partner will reap what his partner has sown?

Classic.
