Jul. 7th, 2012 03:18 pmThe High Line--"a 1.6 km New York City linear park built on a 2.33 km section of the former elevated New York Central Railroad spur called the West Side Line, [running] along the lower west side of Manhattan[, that] has been redesigned and planted as an aerial greenway--is a destination that I'd been told by many people to see, and a destination that I did see on my final full day in New York City with my cousin, his new husband, and a friend.
It's a remarkable achievement. Imagine a walking down a well-managed English garden path a couple dozen metres in the air, with the dense skyscrapers of Manhattan to the right and the Hudson River at sunset through the maze of buildings to the left.
