On the one-year anniversary of the death of NDP leader Jack Layton, the Torontonian who spectacularly took the NDP to Official Opposition status in last year's remarkable federal election just months before his own death, I thought I'd share a photo from the archives.

The above is one photo of six I took, on the 25th of August, visible here, of the impromptu memorial for Jack Layton that sprung out outside of the Toronto City Hall where he worked for decades as a politician before switching to the federal level. Note the prevalence of orange, the NDP colour, and the opened cans of Orange Crush pop, including the one in front of the portrait in the foreground.
