Just east of Covehead near Stanhope is a small stream that runs, from a brackish pond, through the sand dunes, to the Gulf of St. Lawrence. When I was younger I liked building sand castles next to this stream, appreciating how its course changed with the seasons. This summer I visited the stream to find that it was choked with green algae, something to do with the pond's ecology. It still looks nice from a distance, I think.
