  • Tuesday, I went to a wine-tasting session with two dormmates. I've discovered a new taste for fortified wines--is sherry better for dates and port better for friends, or vice versa, or both, or neither? New experiences aplenty will come soon.

  • Thursday, I went to a speed dating session, run by the SGPS, with two cohorts for the English graduate's program. It was a heterosexual event, of course. There were some interesting people; I'll find out next week

  • I've bought music. From Amazon, I've bought David Bowie's 1995 Outside and his 2003 Reality, and Kate Bush's 1982

<li>Thursday, I went to a <a href="http://www.canadaplus.ca/feature/12555/speeddating.html">speed dating</a> session, run by the <a href="http://www.queensu.ca/sgps/">SGPS</a>, with two cohorts for the English graduate's program. It was a heterosexual event, of course. There were some interesting people; I'll find out next week</li>
<li>I've bought music. From <a href="http://www.amazon.ca">Amazon</a>, I've bought <a href="http://www.davidbowie.com/">David Bowie</a>'s 1995 <i><a href="http://www.cdshakedown.com/022196.htm">Outside</a></i> and his 2003 <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/arts/fridayreview/story/0,12102,1039855,00.html"><i>Reality</i></a>, and Kate Bush's 1982 <a href="<a href="http://gaffa.org/dreaming/td_td.html"><i>The Dreaming</i></a>. In real time, I've bought <i><a href="<a href="http://www.vivahate.org/lyrics/best2.php?lan=fr">The Smiths - "...Best II"</a></i> and <a href="http://www.pjharvey.net/">PJ Harvey</a>'s 1995 <a href="http://www.popmatters.com/music/reviews/h/harveypj-stories.html"><i>Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea</i></a>and 1998 <a href="http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/h/harvey_pollyjean/is-this-desire.shtml"><i>Is This Desire?</i></a>. I like new music; I'm trying to move a bit beyond my playlists of the recent past.</li>
<li>I'm wearing my hair back. For the past decade or so, since early- to mid-puberty, I've worn my hair parted (on the left) and down. Now I'm talking advantage of C.'s to wear it slicked to the back, and straight, with gel. It's part of a bit of a change in appearance that I'm trying out. I think that the effect, if not better, is at least a change.</li>
<li>I saw <a href="http://directory.google.com/Top/Arts/Movies/Titles/K/Kill_Bill/?il=1"><i>Kill Bill</i></a> today with N., a friend from dorm. It's an excellent film: a bloody revenge flick, but one with something of an ethical core to it. I recommend it, but only if you can tolerate gore.</li>
<li>Today, I got some pictures taken by a friend, at a recent party where everyone (according to gender) dressed up either as <a href="http://www.livejournal.com/users/rfmcdpei/166882.html">schoolgirls</a> or as construction workers.</li>
</ul>

Those are the most prominent events which have happened to me. More may, or may not, come as I remember more. All goes well, of course; I'm somewhat surprised by that.

Now, back to my abundant work.
