When my parents visited Toronto, I was confronted by a turtle.

We three were visiting the Allan Gardens greenhouse. One of the rooms of this greenhouse is dedicated to orchids, and in the orchid room is a pool where turtles swim. One of these turtles, resting on the rocky shore of the pool, took notice of me and began to climb towards me.

Soon enough it became clear that it was climbing towards me, up the steep slopes of its enclosure to the strange camera-wielding person leaning over its home.

This is as close as it got.

Soon after this final picture, it toppled over backyards, its protective but top-heavy shell taking it down. It then turned away back towards the water.
