Yesterday was somewhat eventfull, in a nothing's-happening kind of way. Thankfully, the credits outweighed the negatives.
On the debit side, for instance, is my health situation. After visiting the Queen's health clinic and going over to the (thankfully immediately adjacent) Kingston General Hospital for a chest X-ray, I was told that virii nowadays tenjd to be rather resistant, staying around for three or four weeks--or even six--instead of one or two as in the days of yore. That's only mildly irritating, though, certainly something minor enough compare to the ways in which my misuse of my inhaler has made the inside of my mouth feel a bit like a chemical burn. Finances are also becoming increasingly interesting: My savings account is 1100 dollars in the red, and my line of credit is at best a rudimentary stub, and I haven't heard back from the PEi student loan people. I'm not considering following the paths of certain Moldovans or other, British, graduate students, truly I'm not. The last installment of my scholarship will come in May. Still, it's going to be interesting to cope, particularly since I've lost a French-language translation of Said's Orientalism, can't find it, and will be liable for fines. Fun.
On the credit side, the last English graduate students' coffee hour for the winter semester ended nicely, with the fruit and cheese tray I bought in addition to the regular timbits being avidly consumed, and a few nice compliments about my management of the whole affair. Apparently the funds to keep the coffee socials going into the spring semester will be made available. Too, yesterday was just a nice day outside; I was in a good mood, and things went well.
On the just plain odd side, last night I stayed up until three o'clock or so deleting ~303 megabytes of duplicates of mp3 files via Media Windows Player. Surprisingly or not, given my nerd-like status, that was fun. (And yes, I know that Microsoft is an evil monopoly, but still I'm rather fond of Windows Media Player. It works better for me than WINAMP or Real Player, for instance.) Also, I performed an emergency double transplantation operation in the dorm bathroom on a cactus I'd bought after dropping it twice thanks to an excessive burden of bags. (It's doing fine now, solidly implanted in its pot.)
For today, there's just the completion of checking for my TA essays (going nicely, thanks) and an upcoming late-night visit to Tango's with friends. (I'm wearing my blue blazer, tonight. I love it.)
