"Tom's Diner" is a song quite I like, in its original a capella version and in the remix put out by DNA in 1990. Suzanne Vega's song is perfect sung poetry, the sort of thing to which all writers should aspire, showing how the quotidian can be made high art.

I've thought of the song before as I passed Vesta Lunch, as I frequently do this diner being on my street. On Sunday afternoon tending to evening just past, I just had to go in and order a cup. This golden evening was one where the song fit especially well.
