The ever-interesting Migration Information website has just posted profiles of current migrational trends and prospects in three African countries: Botswana, Lesotho, and Mali. The authors' conclusions--that middle-income Botswana is in the process of switching to a restrictive immigration regime, that Lesotho's future is a depopulated southern African equivalent to Appalachia, and that the pressures for Malien emigration will be contained by restrictive policies in traditional receiving countries--perhaps aren't innovative. But then, they don't need to be.
