After work today, I met up with
bitterlawngnome at the Spadina TTC station. We took the streetcar down Spadina, then went west on College to the western perimeter of Kensington Market, finding our way past the food and clothing stores through to Spadina, thence to a nice dinner at Lee Garden and meeting R. and S., friends of
bitterlawngnome before we parted.
I can see why Jane Jacobs would like Kensington Market. As for Chinatown, just looking and listening (advertisements for different Chinese clan associations, different organizations of second-stage Chinese groups like the Vietnamese boat people along with the related prominence of Vietnamese-language signs, the sounds of the different Chinese regional dialects) reveals the diversity of the Chinese-Canadian community in Toronto.
