Early Thursday evening, I went down to Postscript, the Toronto Fringe Festival patio housed in the open-air arena on the southeast corner of Bathurst and Dundas between Scadding Court and Alexandra Park. A quick heavy rain had just finished, making things tough for the businesspeople there but at least giving me good sight lines before the crowds returned. I was touched, particularly, by the empty chair set aside as a memorial for veteran theatre critic Jon Kaplan.
