I don't link to Nick Barlow's blog enough, mainly because I'm unfamiliar with British politics. A recent posting of his, "Politics by tantrum," managed to hook me but good.

I realised something yesterday that’s started to explain British politics and make it understandable - Tony Blair has poor impulse control. Just look at yesterday, all those exasperated sighs and petulant complaints at press conferences, all those rumoured threats to call an election if he didn’t get his way. It’s just a little kid, screaming and shouting, not wanting to shut up till he gets everything his way, threatening to give up and take his ball and go home if the game isn’t played exactly according to his rules - the ones where it’s not allowed for him to lose. And the Parliamentary Labour Party are the indulgent parent, always gazing lovingly moist-eyed at their little joyous child. He’s not annoying, just precocious, no, no, no, it can’t be his fault, it must be something one of the other children did. The parents waited so long to have a child, and now they’ve got one, they’ll let him do whatever he wants. Oh, they’ll occasionally threaten to send him to bed without supper, but he’ll just look so apologetic, so hurt that they’d even consider him a bad boy that they’ll forgive him.
