[URBAN NOTE] SpeakEasy
Apr. 7th, 2005 09:50 pmIt was pure chance that I picked up the latest issue of eye before I got onto the Queen Street streetcar heading west and read this article about the SpeakEasy comic festival at the Gladstone Hotel tonight. I got off one stop west of my normal point of deboarding, walked up to the doors, and paid my $4C admission fee.
I enjoyed the display of art. I also have to admit that I'm almost completely unfamiliar with the world of indie comics.
talktooloose would have known who the artists concerned are, I'm sure, perhaps also
pauldrye and
robertprior. This is one more area of popular culture that I'll have to discover, I suppose.
