I was chatting with the boyfriend last night when he made the case that the transit strike may go on for a week, longer than the strike back in 1999. The Liberal government of Premier Dalton McGuinty is already somewhat weak, see, and the federal sponsorship scandal in the Liberal Party only adds further discredit by association to its provincial branches. The idea that the striking workers will be legislated back to work after only a couple of days is unlikely since this would require a large expenditure of political capital. Good cause will be needed, like, say, a Torontonian population that had to go without for an extended period.
Oh well. At least I can carpool.
