I'm rather happy that a good friend was able to send me a mp3 of Mylène Farmer's latest single, "Fuck them all." Ever since 1984's "Maman a tort," the Québec-born French popular-music star has managed to acquire a fan base in the millions across the Francophone world and beyond--she apparently has a strong fan base in Russia, for instance--thanks to the way her dark lyrics and breathy vocals have combined with excellent music videos. It might be superficial, but I like it.
And yes, I know that she and her music have a certain reputation. I refer the critical leader to the lyrics of the song I'm listening to now.
