[BRIEF NOTE] Angels in America
Apr. 15th, 2005 07:37 pmBecause I was dismissed from work early for wont of actual work, I stopped off at the deserving Glad Day Bookstore just north of the Wellesley TTC stop and bought the script of Tony Kushner's Angels in America. I decided not to pick up the two parts separately--Millennium Approaches and Perestroika--for reasons of personal cost.
I haven't seen the acclaimed HBO film version of Kushner's magnum opus, but I've read bits and pieces of it, and I'm familiar with the ongoing controversy over it (is it good art? is it an accurate historical representation? what does it mean?). I read part of Millennium Approaches over supper at the adjacent What A Bagel, over beef stew and half a roasted turkey sandwich and a plastic cup of coffee (the last unfinished) as I faced Yonge Street, seated at the window. I'll be sure to describe my encounter later.
