Norimitsu Onishi's New York Times article "Roll Over, Godzilla: Korea Rules" suggests that South Korea is becoming a major exporter of popular culture--comics, television, music, computer games--to the whole of Asia. This isn't particularly surprising, since South Korea is a First World country that, by virtue of its size, probably has a better claim to G-7 membership than Canada and a more distinctive culture in the bargain.
