[BRIEF NOTE] This Shouldn't Have Happened

When I entered one HMV music store in downtown Toronto, I heard a faintly familiar song. I listened for a moment and realized that it was a cover of Björk's song "Hunter", the first track off of the Icelandic chanteuse's 1997 album Homogenic. I remember thinking that it wasn't an altogether ban cover when the song switched genres to Stabbing Westward-type electronic alternative rock.

The clerk behind the counter told me that me that this song was track 12 from the debut album of Jared Leto's new band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, just as Leto sang "Thought I could organise freedom / how American of me." Not "Scandinavian," as in the original, of course.

I don't think that I like Mr. Leto.
